To mark the 2026 Mother’s Day celebrations, the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, hosted a special commemorative reception and welfare support outreach dedicated to widows across the municipality. The event, held at the municipal Assembly hall in Juaso, created a festive and uplifting atmosphere featuring music, refreshment, and social interactions aimed at honoring the resilience and sacrifices of vulnerable mothers raising families independently. Addressing the gathering, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah emphasized that Mother’s Day should extend beyond celebratory gestures to include tangible socio-economic interventions for women, particularly widows who face heightened economic pressures. The Municipal Chief Executive reiterated the local administration’s determination to continuously integrate vulnerable women into district-level empowerment programs and social safety nets. Following the reception, the Assembly presented comprehensive livelihood support packages to the attendees. The distributed items included bags of rice, cooking oil, textiles, and domestic essentials intended to alleviate immediate household burdens and support small-scale trading ventures. The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Municipal Chief Executive and the Assembly management for recognizing their contributions to the community and providing practical assistance to sustain their families.
