ASANTE AKIM SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY GRADUATES 232 APPRENTICES UNDER BIZBOX PROGRAMME

The forecourt of the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly came alive today as the Assembly hosted a colourful graduation and start-up kit distribution ceremony for 232 apprentices under the BizBox programme. The event is a major step in the Assembly’s efforts to promote skills development and reduce youth unemployment in the municipality. The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including the Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Mr. K.B. Asante; the Acting Deputy Regional Director, Mr. Eric Oti Nyarko; the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alexander Frimpong; and the Municipal Coordinating Director, along with management and staff of the Assembly. In their remarks, the officials commended the graduates for their hard work and urged them to make good use of the start-up kits to enhance their livelihoods, create job opportunities, and contribute to the economic development of the municipality. A total of 232 graduate apprentices benefited from the initiative, receiving essential start-up kits in various trade areas. The kits were distributed across a wide range of vocations, including: • Dressmaking: 125 beneficiaries • Hairdressing: 69 beneficiaries • General Electricals: 13 beneficiaries • Carpentry: 6 beneficiaries • Barbering & Tiling: 4 beneficiaries each • Cosmetology & Masonry: 3 beneficiaries each • Auto Mechanics: 2 beneficiaries • Beadmaking, Plumbing, & Welding: 1 beneficiary each Beneficiaries expressed their profound appreciation to the Assembly and the BizBox programme for equipping them with the tools needed to establish their own businesses and contribute meaningfully to society.

About Us

Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly was carved out of the then Asante Akim District in furtherance of government’s decentralization policy that also established the Assembly with its capital as Juaso via legislative instrument, (L.I) 1409 of 1988. Asante Akim South was elevated to Municipal Status in 2017 via Legislative instrument (L.I) 2263 of 2017.
