ASANTE AKIM SOUTH MUNICIPAL STAFF TRAINED ON SMART WORKPLACE PLATFORM TO ENHANCE SERVICE DELIVERY

The Local Government Service has organized a comprehensive capacity-building workshop for the administrative staff of the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly to operationalize the Smart Workplace platform. The training session, which took place on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the Assembly’s Conference Hall in Juaso, is part of a nationwide institutional drive to transition public operations onto digital systems. The training targeted management, heads of departments, unit heads, and support staff within the assembly. Facilitated by technical officers from E-Solutions Ghana and the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS), the session aimed to eliminate bureaucratic delays associated with physical file tracking, reduce over-reliance on paper-based workflows, and establish a highly secure digital environment for internal communication. Participants were taken through interactive, hands-on simulations covering the primary functionalities of the government portal. Key areas of focus included the management of official electronic memos (eMemos), digital correspondence tracking, internal requisition systems, and secure cloud file sharing. The resource team also sensitized the staff on strict data handling protocols and cybersecurity guidelines necessary to safeguard government data within the virtual space. Assembly management expressed optimism about the platform's deployment, stating that shifting to the Smart Workplace platform will significantly drop operational expenditures on stationery while boosting transparency. By automating workflows, the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly expects to accelerate its internal approval processes and ensure faster submission of statutory administrative reports to regional and national directorates.
