ASANTE AKIM SOUTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY EMPOWERS PERSONS WITH DISABILITY WITH TOOLS FOR ECONOMIC INDEPENDENCE

In a significant move to foster economic independence and social inclusion, the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has distributed a variety of valuable equipment to Persons with Disability (PWDs) in the municipality. The event, held at the Assembly’s premises, is a key part of the government's mandate to support vulnerable groups and provide them with sustainable livelihoods. A total of 35 beneficiaries received a range of items, including refrigerators, welding machines, fufu pounding machines, and other industrial tools tailored to their skills and needs. This strategic distribution is a direct investment in the entrepreneurial potential of PWDs, enabling them to start or expand their own businesses and become self-reliant. Addressing the beneficiaries, the Municipal Chief Executive highlighted the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to building an inclusive society. “Today, we are not just giving you tools; we are providing you with the means to build your own future and contribute meaningfully to our local economy,” she stated. “The government believes in the power and potential of every citizen, and this initiative underscores our pledge to ensure no one is left behind in the development agenda.” The selection of beneficiaries was a collaborative effort involving the Assembly's Social Welfare Department, which carefully assessed individual needs to ensure the right tools were matched to the right people. The distribution was funded through the Assemblies’ share of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) dedicated to PWDs. Recipients of the equipment expressed profound gratitude to the Assembly and the government, stating that the items would significantly improve their economic circumstances. The Assembly remains dedicated to its social protection responsibilities and will continue to roll out initiatives that empower and uplift all members of the community.
