In a significant move combining youth empowerment with public safety, the Asante Akim South Municipal Secretariat of the Youth Employment Authority (YEA) has officially inaugurated a specialized cohort of Community Medical First Responders (CMFR). The initiative reflects a broader government mandate to generate sustainable, value-driven employment for young people while systematically improving grassroots emergency healthcare services. The inauguration ceremony, held at the municipal level, brought together key stakeholders, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the Municipal YEA Director, heads of health directorates, and traditional leaders. The newly deployed personnel will act as vital frontline actors, trained to offer critical pre-hospital care, basic life support, and stabilization techniques during local emergencies before professional medical teams arrive on the scene. Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, commended the central government and the YEA management for engineering interventions that go beyond economic relief. She noted that deploying trained emergency responders directly into underserved communities will significantly minimize mortality rates related to domestic accidents and transport emergencies within the municipality. The MCE urged the beneficiaries to discharge their duties with absolute discipline, integrity, and a deep sense of patriotism. On his part, the Municipal YEA Director stated that the CMFR module is an ambitious, life-saving strategy designed to bridge the structural gap between rural communities and district medical facilities. He explained that the recruits had undergone rigorous practical orientations to ensure their readiness for the field. The Authority assured the public that necessary logistics and first-aid toolkits would be continually provided to ensure the sustainability and long-term impact of the module across Asante Akim South.
