In June 2026, the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly, through its Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, distributed a wide range of economic equipment and financial grants to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Supervised by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, and the Head of Social Welfare, the exercise provided beneficiaries with deep freezers, sewing machines, hairdryers and fufu pounding equipment funded by the Disability Fund. The intervention aims to foster sustainable livelihoods, boost micro-enterprises, and drive inclusive economic growth across the municipality.

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has executed a cash disbursement exercise under the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme at the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in Juaso. Led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, and the Head of Department, the exercise provided direct cash support to low-income households, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Coupled with social protection sensitization, the pay-out aims to improve household nutrition, healthcare access, and child welfare across the municipality.

In observance of Mother’s Day on 10th May 2026, the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly, under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, organized a festive reception and livelihood outreach for widows within the municipality. Held in Juaso, the celebration combined social festivities with the presentation of practical household support packages and food items. The initiative underscored the Assembly's ongoing commitment to social welfare, honouring vulnerable mothers, and strengthening economic safety nets across local communities.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asante Akim South, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, has cut the sod for the construction of a 3-unit classroom block with an office, store, 4-seater W/C toilet, and a mechanized borehole at Saabo. Accompanied by Assembly management officials and the project contractor, the MCE officially handed over the site to begin civil works. The integrated facility aims to improve the local learning environment by providing modern classrooms alongside clean water and dignified sanitation infrastructure for pupils and teachers.
