HON. MAAME SARFOAH APPIAH JOINS DEVELOPMENT CONTROL ENFORCEMENT TO CURB UNAUTHORIZED STRUCTURES

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Asante Akim South, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, has participated in a field enforcement exercise with the Assembly's Building Inspectorate Unit to strengthen development control. The operation targeted unauthorized buildings and structures that encroach on public access roads and vital waterways. The Municipal Chief Executive emphasized that the Assembly will strictly enforce zoning laws and building permit requirements to curb unregulated sprawling, protect the environment, and ensure orderly community planning across the municipality.

ASANTE AKIM SOUTH MUNICIPAL MARKS GHANA’S 69TH INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH CALL FOR UNITY AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly has marked Ghana’s 69th Independence Day anniversary in Juaso under the national theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope”. Led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the event featured a march past by basic and second-cycle schools, traditional leaders, and local groups. In her address, the Municipal Chief Executive called for renewed patriotism and collective discipline, while highlighting ongoing municipal infrastructure projects in health and education aimed at driving rural development and economic self-reliance.

ASANTE AKIM SOUTH YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AUTHORITY (YEA) DISTRIBUTES START-UP KITS UNDER THE NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly, alongside the Youth Employment Authority (YEA), has distributed vocational startup kits to master trainers and graduate apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP). The event, held at the Assembly premises in Juaso on February 17, 2026, was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, the Municipal YEA Director, and officials from the YEA National Headquarters. The initiative equipped local youth in dressmaking, cosmetology, electrical work, and carpentry with the necessary tools to launch self-sustaining businesses and strengthen the local artisanal economy.

HON. MAAME SARFOAH APPIAH BREAKS GROUND FOR MAJOR EDUCATIONAL AND HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

The Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, has held sod-cutting ceremonies to commence three key infrastructure projects. Accompanied by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Works Engineer, and Planning Officer, the MCE handed over sites for a 2-unit KG block at Tanokrom, a 3-unit classroom block at Tokwai Odumasi, and a fully equipped CHPS compound with staff quarters and a mechanized borehole at Dwendwenase. The projects aim to substantially upgrade educational access and primary healthcare delivery across the farming communities.

About Us

Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly was carved out of the then Asante Akim District in furtherance of government’s decentralization policy that also established the Assembly with its capital as Juaso via legislative instrument, (L.I) 1409 of 1988. Asante Akim South was elevated to Municipal Status in 2017 via Legislative instrument (L.I) 2263 of 2017.
