ASSEMBLY MEMBERS OF ASANTE AKIM SOUTH VOTE ON THE PRESIDENT’S NOMINEE FOR MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has successfully supervised a confirmation vote at the Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly. The secret ballot exercise allowed Assembly Members to vote on the nomination of Hon. Maame Sarfoah Appiah, who was put forward by President H.E. John Dramani Mahama. The transparent process, which required a strict two-thirds majority of votes cast to approve the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), was conducted under close supervision to ensure compliance with local government regulations.

About Us

Asante Akim South Municipal Assembly was carved out of the then Asante Akim District in furtherance of government’s decentralization policy that also established the Assembly with its capital as Juaso via legislative instrument, (L.I) 1409 of 1988. Asante Akim South was elevated to Municipal Status in 2017 via Legislative instrument (L.I) 2263 of 2017.
